Bottom Line: A strongly above average Projector with awesome WiFi capability that's priced near or below "regular" non-WiFi projectors. With an impressive top-end feature set, this projector is well worth the price. The minor difficulties I encountered where not too significant, and typical with most other Wi-Fi capable players and projectors on the market.
If your business, school, or organization is a need of a high-performance projector that can light up the largest rooms, even in bright daylight office conditions - I would suggest you take a look at the Epson 1775W Wi-Fi wireless projector.
With a price point of $1,000 in brightness output of 3000 lumens, you're definitely going to get your money's worth. For business projectors, I sometimes divide the price by the lumen rating, just to get a rough idea of performance per dollar. In the case of the 1775w wireless projector, this works out to a pretty incredible 30 cents per lumen. Just a couple of years ago, you'd be looking at about 2 bucks per lumen.
The built-in wireless connectivity will allow this projected to move to room without being tethered to a wired video source. Look at the difference that Wi-Fi made with mobile office computing, and how connecting through wireless access points is the assumed standard nowadays. this wireless projector can offer the same impact an opportunity to benefit from high-speed wireless networking.
By far the most useful feature is the built in WiFi. This allows me to stream my device's display directly to the projector with no cable clutter, and from anywhere in the general area. The convenience of being able to connect to the projector via WiFi puts this product head and shoulders above the rest. Whether you want to be able to sit comfortably on your couch with netbook in hand, move around freely with your laptop, have a computer in another room you'd like to show, or any other infinite set of unique and perhaps previously unworkable circumstances, this projector simplifies the process and turns displaying any nearby device into one simple step.
Setting up the WiFi in my home with this device was very easy. All that was required was to first plug the USB key into the projector, wait a few seconds, and remove it. Then after a few seconds of being connected to my computer, the projector was already properly displaying the image. Although this projector has great image quality, it isn't absolutely perfect. I had a bit of trouble getting the WiFi working at times.
This was likely due to my firewall or some other form of network security, and proved to be a bit of an annoyance. However, this problem wasn't too difficult to solve and after the first fix, never occurred again. To be on the safe side, I recommend new owners of this device to allow explicit permissions for their 1775W to access their network.
Another issue I encountered was the loudness of the projector's fan. This projector isn't ideal to have nearby during use. It can heat up pretty easily, and the cooling fan can be somewhat inefficient. This is an annoyance during viewing, but can be solved by either sitting further away from the projector or simply ignoring it. Those easily annoyed by noise during use of their projector may not want to purchase this product.
Overall, the Epson PowerLite 1775W Multimedia Projector is a very versatile device that is useful in just about any situation. This is perfect for anyone who prefers not to deal with cables to connect their device, or has a stationary device that is too far away from the projector to use a wired connection. The flaws with this device are minor at their absolute worst, but may still be enough of a problem to put off a few people.
Personally, changing a few firewall settings wasn't much of a hassle, and I'm not particularly bothered by the extra noise that this projector produces since it is fairly far away from the viewing area. Whether it's needed for business presentations, movie viewing, or even gaming, this projector does a great job at just about everything. The price may be steep, but for the value provided, is beyond justified. This is just short of the perfect projector.
